Although it’s well over 100 years since he passed, iconic English designer William Morris continues to have a profound influence on contemporary design. With Hidden Treasures Volume 2, a series of previously unseen Morris sketches have been faithfully recreated by Midbec Tapeter.
Inspired by a pattern Morris designed for the drawing room of his Kelmscott House, Bird features pairs of wood pigeons and thrushes perched within lush background foliage composed of sunflowers, bellflowers and stylized poppy heads. Designed by Morris in 1876 for the redecoration of the Oxford Union debating hall, this pattern features willow boughs and forget-me-not flowers that are striking both at a distance and close up.
